Mos Def's "The Ecstatic" is one of my favorite albums of 2009. After a couple of years since his last release, Mos came back strong with his socially conscious hip hop. I love the bollywood style samples, the production, the song "No Hay Nada Mas"... great album!
Mos Def! He is a unique talent with an eclectic style and I look forward to taking a closer listen to The Ecstatic- thanks for pointing my ears this way. Could be a contender for 2009 album of the year...?
ReplyDeleteWhich other albums are top 2009? just gonna throw out there to be weird Chris Cornell's "Scream" and "No Line on the Horizon" from some band from Ireland. Anything that juxtaposes interesting styles seems to be working to close out this decade. Also the Beatles are really big this year. Curious what people think- let's beat pitchfork to the punch on this year's list...
