Hope Sandoval
I'm really enjoying Hope Sandoval and the Warm Inventions new album Through the Devil Softly. While her voice and instrumentation is as dreamy as ever, this album is distinct from her work with Mazzy Star as well as the Warm Inventions first album Bavarian Fruit Bread. It feels like it has more space. Some highlights for me include Blue Bird, Trouble, and Satellite. I was fortunate enough to catch this East Los Angeles native's performance at the Mayan recently and, I must say, her voice is like no other I've heard and her beauty radiates out from the darkly lit stage.

Beautifully and poetically said. I fully agree. The Audacity of Hope, a real person making music that is out of this world. So beautiful captured. Only someone whose designs are as distinctive as those at laurencullen.com could have such beautiful insights into beauty, radiating... in subtle shades of change. Let me also add that while Hope is sweeter than sugar... if that were the devil in her voice she sure is a sexy devil, even topping the lead signer of the first vinyl Stones album I ever heard- From The Past Darkly. What will she do next?
ReplyDeleteShe last recorded an album in '01 and tour in '02... hopefully, she will continue her current creative streak and come out with more music again soon!
